WE SHARE THE EXPERIENCE OF INTRODUCING A ROMA ASSISTANT AT SCHOOL

“The closer the communication with the Roma family, the better the child’s success,” says Edgar Baggio, a Roma assistant at Uzhhorod’s multidisciplinary lyceum Intellect, a secondary school No 11. He has no higher education, but has experience working with children. And most importantly – he is a native of the Roma environment. On December 29, our grantees from the Project for Early Development and Socialization of Roma Children held a master class for colleagues from preschools and secondary schools in Uzhgorod as part of their micro-project.
Previously, Roma children came to school completely unprepared. Often they did not distinguish colors and did not know the basic rules of behavior in society. Now the Roma assistant who works at the school helps the children to adapt.
